Vmware fusion for mac /clean install windows 2000

I'm posting this in case it fysion others with a method of clean installing a student-version Windows 7 bit upgrade DVD in a Fusion 2 VM. I simply wanted a cheap, basic, and clean installation without much concern for performance. First were the Microsoft limitations of an "upgrade" version and bit installed over bit. Second were the VMware Driver problems. I had easily installed Windows 7 RC earlier, but not so this paid version and the difference had to be those "upgrade" limitations.

Lucky for me, I had time machine backup. Look if you didn't boot the Mac with the Windows /vlean you've just walked through the New Virtual Machine Assistant to create a Windows Virtual Machine and you haven't added a /cleah Disk then mmac Windows install isn't touching the physical hard drive directly as if you were installing it on fusikn physical PC and it is only touching a virtual hard drive which is nothing more then a file or set of files on the physical hard drive and is no different in this respect then any other files you create on your physical hard drive with any other application.

It is Fusion that allows the Guest OS to think it's a real hard drive when it nothing more then disk files. Now if you've booted the Mac or and existing Virtual Machine that already contains an OS then installing Windows in the case will overwrite something that is existing however I suspect that the former is the case and what you're actually doing but if by chance you've actually boot the physical Mac with the Windows CD then stop.
