I found people saying they'd successfully deive the Intels and well most brands actually. I also found some vendors saying that at dtive time the Intel s were seeing less RAs than some other similarly priced 20010 I was looking at; this may or may not be the case right now, and I was only able to compare a few brands. For me, the top-end drive speed difference didn't mean all that much, because primarily I was after the low seek speeds.

In my case, i had a mpand a 8 tb system disk with I tried to update to No success, somewhere in the upgrade process i got some error message. A second try gave the same result. Then in a thid attempt i got an old disk, i dont remember its size, installed Then with the smaller helper disk i upgraded I removed the old helper disk, and booted Perfect, a 8 tb osx system and data disk.
