Totally proprietary file format; and the file format changes from version to version with little or no backwards compatibility. As long as one's needs are simple and there is never a chance that one will need to share their files with anyone else, this is a fine product.

I'm still using Publisher 97, flr Easy to use, easy to set up. Easy to find Thesaurus, change things. Always wants to save as in rich text instead of word that can be a pain sometimes specially if you have finished a story and want to upload to the internet.
To can't forget to save it into Microsoft word. Does not work with open office sometimes.

Well worth the money, Microsoft finally did something really right with this program. I love the word count mkcrosoft page number at the bottom of the page on the left hand side. I found the find and replace word extremely wonderful.
Doing hyperlinks can be such a drag but not with this program it is made easy. Adding clip art is simple as one two three. Working with page lay out is a dream. Even I can do it that is saying a lot when it comes to computer programs. I like how envelopes is set up under mailings no hunting for it.
Sometimes you just hit upon a program that really works well, does what it pub,isher suppose to; well this is the program. I like because it is very easy to control and to use for cards, designs and many other things. Not like Word and Excel as far as toolbars and Ribbon. Line spacing is too hard to control, needs to be more like Word.
